Have you ever stared in the mirror for extensive lengths of time after your shower and then turned away frowning? Have you ever felt that that gut of yours is insurmountable? Well you are not alone. This article will help you turn that frown upside down and trim down that waist line.

Drinking green tea several times a day can help you lose weight. In order to have the best effect, drink green tea at least four times a day. Not only does this "super tea" boost your immune system, it also boosts your metabolism and the rate that your body burns calories.

Adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet can greatly assist you in your weight loss attempts. These foods have a lot of water in them, so they help you to feel fuller. They are very high in fiber, which fills you up quickly, too. Most fruits and vegetables are lower in calories, so you can eat more and gain less.

If you have ever spent a day counting exactly how many calories that you have consumed that day, you may have found it a daunting task and have been very surprised at the results. Try simply taking note of everything you eat in a notebook or spreadsheet. By writing down everything that goes into your mouth, you may find that you're consuming much more food then you thought you were when you were making mental notes.

Track your calories. Go buy a cheap spiral notebook. By creating a food journal, you can help to organize all of the foods that you consume. Do not forget to include the number of servings and amount of calories from the food that you eat during the day. This is a simple and effective way to monitor what you eat and the progress you are making.

When you're cleaning your house, why not clean your kitchen of unhealthy foods as well? Take the time to go through your cupboards, fridge and pantry and toss out all the cookies, chips and other junk food that you have sitting around. If they're not there to tempt you, you'll be more likely to eat a healthy diet.

A great tip to live healthier is to consume five or six small meals a day instead of the typical three meals. Studies have shown that eating smaller meals more often throughout the day will help you stay at your ideal weight because it boosts your metabolism and prevents you from overeating.

To keep your weight loss routine healthy and effective, avoid extreme or "crash" dieting. The ideal diet for healthy weight loss is a sustainable one. By their very natures, crash diets are short-term ordeals. Even though they may offer substantial short-term results, their long-term effect is negligible, or even harmful. It is better to develop a diet you can stick to over time - even permanently.

When losing weight it's important to not deny yourself. If you tell yourself you can't have something, you are going to end up wanting it even more. When that craving hits, only have a bite or two, and see if that causes your craving to pass. If losing weight becomes too complicated, you probably won't stick to it.

Say you're a condiment lover. You love to slather mayonnaise on your sandwiches. One of many small changes that can save you hundreds of calories over time is to simply use mustard instead of mayo on your next sandwich. Depending on how much mayo you used to use, you could save up to 100 calories from that simple swap.
