Injectable Fillers: A Guide

By Andy Baromm

Injectable fillers have become a popular treatment because they are minimally invasive. As these products gain popularity and acceptance, my patients are increasingly aware of the options. You can keep looking youthful, without a major surgery, with this quick, relatively painless treatment every 6-12 months.

Laugh lines

Laugh or smile lines are the most common area that soft tissue fillers are used to treat. Most laugh lines soften considerably with one to two syringes of filler, but if you decide to treat the marionette lines or if your lines are particularly deep, more may be needed.

The same patient may use fillers for both fine and deep wrinkles, because there are a number of them available. By layering them in the same areas, physicians are able to plump the folds and fill the lines that are often lying in the depths of those folds. They can be given in minutes with a tiny needle to give definition to the lips and fill other wrinkles such as laugh lines. The results are instantaneous, producing a long-lasting (6-9 months), natural enhancement, which is gentle and safe to the skin. Within hours, you may return to normal activities.

Lips

The last place women want to lose volume is in their lips. A fuller and more sensuous mouth comes high many people's wish list. Our lips start to become thinner from our late twenties, with fine lines eventually appearing around the mouth. With a small injection of natural hyaluronic filler, you can give your lips their former glory. Whether it's to add lost volume or just to redefine the lip contours you will be impressed by the instant results with lip filler procedures. It is your decision how subtle or obvious your new lips will be.

Cheeks

Volume loss in your cheeks shows your age more than anything else. One inexpensive way of creating a youthful look, without resorting to invasive surgery, is Cheek Augmentation using dermal fillers.

Over time older skin may begin to lose its elasticity and plumpness. This eventually leads to a loss of shape and definition in the face, caused by sagging in the area around the cheek and jaw. An overall ageing effect to our appearance comes when cheekbones that were once round and prominent now appear somewhat sallow and flat. Cheek augmentation creates a much more balanced face shape by helping to re-define the shape of your face, filling and lifting the cheek areas as well as tightening the surrounding skin. An overly angular face can have volume added, giving hollow cheeks and temples a softer shape.
